Sinopsis
The Huarón Mining Unit, owned by Pan American Silver through its subsidiary Pan American Silver Huarón S.A., is located in the district of the same name, in the region of Pasco – Peru, and represents one of the largest silver reserves in the world.
The average production of the subway mine plant is 2,500 tpd. Huaron operates an 870,000 nominal tons per year mill using froth flotation technology to produce silver in copper, lead and zinc concentrates. The mill’s working diagram consists of three stages: crushing, ball mill grinding, and selective flotation of ore concentrates, followed by concentrate thickening and filtration.
The eventual increase in the processing capacity of its concentrator plant involves a more accelerated advance of its subway workings; and the consequent generation of greater tailings flows that need to be reused or otherwise be discharged outside the operation, after treatment and compliance with current environmental regulations.
In this regard, an engineering study is required to increase the processing capacity of the Mine Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) from 750 l/s to 2000 l/s, ensuring compliance with the Maximum Permissible Limits (MPL) and Environmental Quality Standards (EQS) for the discharge of treated water to the established receiving bodies. The increase in capacity should ensure an efficient metal precipitation process, primarily manganese metal content, and maintain it within the values established by ECA.
